ABOUT THE ROLE: The Platform Engineer will build and maintain deployment workflows, automation frameworks, and platform tooling to support the business. This role focuses on enabling efficient and scalable software delivery through version control, CI/CD pipelines, compute platforms, and cloud infrastructure.

 

This position operates remotely with flexibility, requiring occasional in-person attendance for key meetings and collaborations as determined by leadership

 

You will develop code-driven solutions for request-based and scheduled deployment workflows, ensuring reliability, security, and compliance across environments. Collaborating with development, operations, InfoSec, and DevOps teams, you will optimize delivery pipelines, maintain infrastructure stability, and ensure company policies are followed. You will receive mentorship from all levels of IT while upholding CBC Companies' Core Values of service, integrity, and simplicity.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Prioritize security and data protection in all platform operations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated deployment workflows for software delivery.
  • Implement and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline application and infrastructure changes.
  • Manage and optimize version control systems to facilitate efficient development collaboration.
  • Work with compute and container platforms to ensure scalable and resilient deployments.
  • Utilize cloud services to enhance infrastructure automation and optimize cost efficiency.
  • Implement observability, monitoring, and logging solutions for deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot platform issues, improve performance, and contribute to platform initiatives across multiple projects.
  • Maintain security best practices across deployment processes and infrastructure.
  • Provide maintenance and support for SaaS services (e.g., ServiceNow, GitHub, Harness), ensuring system health and optimized performance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Complete platform engineering assignments and projects as directed by Manager.
  • Participate in Agile meetings, report status, and maintain documentation in task tracking systems (e.g., JIRA).
  • Write clear Standard Operating Procedures and team documentation in systems such as Confluence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ambition to work toward relevant certifications (Terraform, Harness, AWS, etc.).
  • Experience with version control platforms (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket).
  • Knowledge of compute platforms (e.g., VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes) and cloud services (AWS preferred).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Go, Bash, Terraform, Ansible).
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and deployment automation.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Integrations Hub.
  • Understanding of application lifecycle management and ability to write, modify, and debug code.
  • Proficient in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems, storage concepts (NAS/SAN), VMware virtualization, and networking fundamentals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with transparent reporting of successes and challenges.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proven track record of innovation and forward thinking.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AI tools and emerging technologies.
