Job Description
The Redesign Group is seeking a hands-on Datacenter Implementation Engineer to deliver post-sales deployment of infrastructure, virtualization, and storage networking solutions for enterprise clients. This role is focused on bringing architected solutions into production — working directly with customers to install, migrate, and operationalize compute, storage, and virtualization platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments. You’ll partner closely with Solution Architects, Engineering, and Project Management teams to execute high-impact deployments across enterprise data centers and colocation facilities.

Candidates should be based in or near a major metropolitan area with convenient access to client sites and major travel hubs. Preferred markets include the New York and New Jersey metro areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy and configure virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix) in customer environments
  • Execute implementations across enterprise data centers and COLO facilities (remote and on-site)
  • Perform infrastructure deployments across compute, storage, and networking layers
  • Execute virtual machine migrations (P2V / V2V / cross-platform)
  • Configure and troubleshoot storage networking (iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NVMe/TCP)
  • Support rack & stack, system integration, and production cutovers
  • Troubleshoot Layer 2 networking and connectivity issues impacting deployments
  • Collaborate directly with customer IT teams to ensure successful delivery and handoff
  • Document implementations and provide technical knowledge transfer

Required Experience

  • Candidates should be based in or near a major metropolitan area with convenient access to client sites and major travel hubs. Preferred markets include the New York and New Jersey metro areas.
  • 2–5 years in an MSP, VAR, ISP, NOC, or enterprise infrastructure environment
  • Hands-on experience with data center deployments or infrastructure implementation work
  • Experience working across virtualization + storage + networking (not just one area)
  • Comfortable working directly with customers in fast-paced, project-based environments
  • Ability to operate independently and manage travel-based implementation work (60% travel required)

Technical Background

  • VMware deployment and virtualization implementation (not just administration)
  • VM migrations (P2V / V2V)
  • Storage networking experience: iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NVMe/TCP
  • L2 networking troubleshooting (switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, connectivity)
  • CLI experience with enterprise platforms (Cisco, Dell, or similar)

Preferred

  • Experience with SAN / enterprise storage platforms
  • Multi-vendor networking (Cisco NX-OS, Arista, Juniper, Aruba, Dell)
  • VMware NSX, Hyper-V, or Nutanix environments

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package which may include:

  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match (annual dollar cap applied)
  • Flexible time off plan
  • 15 paid holidays
  • Sick leave (amount varies by state requirements and is at least the minimum required by any state)
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Life insurance
  • Paid parental leave
