Device Infrastructure Engineer, Lund

Job Description

Do you enjoy combining automation, technical problem-solving and hands-on engineering work? Join R&D Tools and help evolve one of the largest shared engineering environments within R&D.

Our device infrastructure supports AXIS OS development and is used daily by hundreds of engineers. With approximately 2000 connected devices, more than 100 network switches and extensive physical infrastructure, it plays a critical role in development and testing across the organization.

You will help keep the environment reliable, scalable and ready for future needs through automation, planning and continuous improvement.

Location: Lund HQ (100% on-site)

Who is your future team?

You will join R&D Tools, a Platform Engineering team supporting AXIS OS development at Axis. Our mission is to make it easy for software teams to build, test, integrate and release AXIS OS, the Linux distribution that powers our products.

The device infrastructure is an important part of that mission. You will work closely with stakeholders across Axis to maintain and evolve a shared engineering environment.

Our culture is characterized by openness, trust and collaboration. We value work-life balance, shared responsibility and helping each other succeed.

What will you do?

You will take a leading role in the operation, development and long-term evolution of the device infrastructure.

This is a varied role combining automation, infrastructure, planning and practical hands-on work. One day you may be analyzing usage patterns or developing automation solutions, while the next you are preparing infrastructure for new products or planning an expansion of the infrastructure.

You will help shape the future direction of the device infrastructure by identifying improvements, driving automation initiatives and developing more scalable ways of operating the environment.

You will:

·      Maintain and improve the device infrastructure.

·      Develop scripts, tools and workflows that automate manual tasks and simplify operations.

·      Maintain accurate device and inventory information.

·      Monitor usage and capacity needs.

·      Manage device purchases, lifecycle management from onboarding to decommission.

·      Collaborate with product teams to prepare for upcoming products.

·      Define and improve processes and ways of working.

·      Drive physical expansions, from coordinating with Facilities and electricians to building shelves, installing infrastructure, cabling devices and preparing new spaces.

·      Collaborate with other departments sharing the facilities.

·      Contribute expertise when new device infrastructure environments are planned.

Who are you?

You enjoy taking ownership and creating structure in environments where details matter.

You are comfortable moving between software, infrastructure and practical hands-on work. Whether you are writing a script, troubleshooting a network issue, organizing hardware or improving a process, you focus on finding practical and scalable solutions.

You work independently and thrive in a team environment, drive improvements over time and build strong relationships across organizational boundaries. Most importantly, you are curious, proactive and take pride in keeping complex environments organized, accurate and easy to operate.

We value experience in areas such as:

·      Network infrastructure and connected devices.

·      Scripting and automation.

·      Asset and inventory management.

·      Capacity planning and data-driven decision making.

·      Technical coordination and stakeholder management.

·      Building efficient and scalable ways of working.
