Infrastructure Engineer – Virtualization (Onsite)
Location: Jersey City, NJ or Plano, TX or Houston, TX
Work Model: Full‑Time Onsite (5 days/week)
Contract: W2 (USC or GC only)
Overview
We are hiring a Seasoned Infrastructure Engineer to support and evolve a large‑scale, enterprise virtualization platform in a highly regulated environment. This is a hands‑on engineering role, not a support or ticket‑driven position.
The team owns the full lifecycle of the Windows and Hyper‑V compute platform — from design and automation through upgrades, performance tuning, and stability in production. Daily onsite presence is required due to close collaboration with data‑center, hardware, and platform engineering teams.
Important Note on Work Model
This position requires working onsite five days per week. Candidates should be local or within a reasonable commuting distance and comfortable with a full in‑office environment long‑term.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Engineer and support enterprise‑scale Hyper‑V virtualization platforms
- Design, build, and maintain Windows Failover Clusters (WSFC)
- Automate infrastructure tasks using PowerShell
- Manage the full Windows Server lifecycle (builds, upgrades, patching)
- Partner with hardware and data‑center teams on capacity planning and performance optimization
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across compute, storage, and networking layers
- Participate in platform improvements, rolling upgrades, and modernization efforts
- Contribute to documentation, standards, and operational excellence
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, or virtualization engineering
- Strong hands‑on experience with Hyper‑V in enterprise environments
- Deep knowledge of Windows Server and Failover Clustering
- Proficiency with PowerShell for automation and administration
- Experience supporting production, mission‑critical systems
- Comfort working in regulated or large enterprise environments
- Ability and willingness to work onsite 5 days per week
Nice to Have
- Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) experience
- Prior VMware experience with interest or exposure to Hyper‑V
- Infrastructure automation frameworks or configuration management
- Performance benchmarking and capacity analysis experience
- Financial services or similarly regulated industry experience

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80.00 - $140.00/hr.
