About the Role
Join the platform engineering team at a biotech data infrastructure company and lead the architecture, security, and scaling of its foundational data platform. The platform brings diverse scientific data into a structured, queryable system for scientists and AI agents.
What You'll Do
Own the platform architecture and technical roadmap, including execution, security, and scaling.
Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines, APIs, microservices, and storage layers that structure varied scientific data while preserving provenance.
Manage knowledge graph and vector search systems to support combined symbolic and semantic retrieval.
Develop high-concurrency platform services in Go and Python APIs, with controlled agent write access and isolated execution environments.
Design security boundaries, including service authentication, tenant isolation, secrets management, encryption, and zero-trust principles.
Operate cloud infrastructure and CI/CD, observability, SLOs, and internal developer workflows.
Set engineering standards through architecture patterns, code reviews, and mentorship, and help grow the platform team.
Partner with company leadership on team design, interviewing, and recruiting.
What We're Looking For
Three to seven years of platform or infrastructure engineering experience building and operating production backend infrastructure, data platforms, or distributed systems.
Strong experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and modern CI/CD systems.
Experience designing ETL or ELT pipelines for complex, unstructured enterprise or scientific data.
Proficiency with Go and Python or FastAPI, and familiarity with TypeDB or TypeQL, Qdrant, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, and Prometheus.
Dedicated infrastructure engineering experience, including production security design; experience with SOC 2 or similar frameworks is beneficial.
Biotech data systems or computational biology experience is a plus, as is experience mentoring engineers or establishing platform engineering practices.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $220,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
