Purpose and Objective:
SAP America, Inc. seeks a Platform Engineer at our Newport Beach, CA location to design, develop, and operate scalable and secure platform infrastructure, tools, framework, and services to support enterprise-scale application needs.
Expectations and Tasks:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design and cloud operations) to understand requirements and translate them into robust platform solutions. Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to streamline delivery and operations, and infrastructure management. Ensure platform reliability, security, and performance through continuous monitoring, optimization, and robust security practices. Provide technical documentation, guidance, and support on platform capabilities and best practices.
Qualifications
Education and Occupational Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Alternatively, a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Qualifications/Skills and Competencies Experience:
Experience must include three (3) years involving each of the following:
Developing and maintaining enterprise applications using SAP HANA, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP HANA Spark, and SAP BTP;
Designing and optimizing data models, queries, and workloads for SAP HANA Datalake and HANA;
Implementing and managing job scheduling and workload orchestration using SAP BTP Scheduler or Temporal;
Designing, developing, and maintaining services integrated with SAP Cloud ALM;
Developing and optimizing event-driven applications and data pipelines using real-time messaging with Kafka and Redis to integrate SAP and non-SAP systems;
Developing and managing OpenAPI specifications via SAP Business Accelerator Hub for enterprise-scale API discovery, publishing, and consumption;
Configuring API gateways to efficiently handle large volumes of requests, including aspects such as routing, load balancing, caching, and monitoring;
Building and enhancing cloud-native microservices and REST APIs using Java, Kotlin, Golang, and Python;
Troubleshooting and optimizing distributed data transformation and processing pipelines in SAP HANA Spark; and
Designing and deploying containerized applications using SAP Gardener, with service-to-service communication managed by Istio or other service mesh frameworks.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $147,093 - $206,460. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $147,093 - $229,400. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
