We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help evolve the infrastructure behind our SaaS and agentic platform.

You will work on AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, security, and developer experience across multiple services and environments. This is a hands-on role with strong ownership, close collaboration with product engineering teams, and direct impact on how we scale our platform.

Your Responsibilities on this role

  • Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CDK.
  • Improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines across services and environments.
  • Support serverless and cloud-native workloads, including Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, SNS, and EventBridge.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing with CloudWatch and OpenTelemetry.
  • Strengthen infrastructure security, including IAM, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and production access.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment workflows and developer experience.
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

Role requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or a similar role.
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience in production environments.
  • Solid experience with Terraform, GitLab CI, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Good scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Experience operating production systems and troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Security-minded approach to cloud infrastructure and access management.
  • Strong communication skills in a remote-first, async environment.
  • Proactive use of AI tools to improve engineering productivity, automation, documentation, troubleshooting, and decision-making.
  • Experience working in multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environments is a plus, especially with GCP, Alibaba Cloud, or STACKIT.

Why to join us here at Mercanis?

  • Salary range: €60,000 – €65,000 gross/year, depending on experience.
  • You will experience a flexible remote setup in Spain, with the option to join our Berlin office for collaboration
  • Strong ownership of platform and infrastructure topics.
  • A small, collaborative engineering team with low bureaucracy.
  • The opportunity to shape CI/CD, observability, cloud infrastructure, security, developer experience, and platform foundations for AI-driven products.
