Full job details
Imagine what you could do here. At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. The Home Systems Software (HSS) team creates solutions for the home, from incredible movie-watching experiences to the ecosystem that lets Apple devices work better together. We make software for Apple TV, HomePod and other Apple devices that gives our users a transformative listening experience anywhere in their house, lets them enjoy their favorite shows in stunning Dolby Vision quality with Atmos surround, and lets them play the newest hits from Apple Arcade. Our engineers use their talent and tools to write the code that makes these experiences possible, and they work cross-functionally with teams across Apple to deliver a seamless experience. Join the team to see what else is possible! HSS is looking for a highly motivated Senior Build and Release Engineer to join its Engineering Operations team. We want someone who can make an immediate impact with an automation-first mindset and who uses AI to work faster and smarter.
As a member of the HSS team, you will have the opportunity to make a big impact by working closely with our extraordinary engineers to develop and drive our build and release process. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving our current tooling and taking it to the next level, and you will play a key role in moving our organization toward this goal. You will design, architect and implement tools that optimize our engineering workflow. You will use AI tools to increase your own efficiency and velocity, and look for opportunities to build AI into our automation, tooling and support workflows. A solid understanding of SCM best practices is essential, as is a deep understanding of good software development practices, so you can drive new processes across the engineering organization. If you thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment and are eager to shape how we handle build and release, HSS is the team for you!
Passion for developing automation and a proven record of streamlining developer productivity Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., coding assistants and LLM-based tools) to increase efficiency and velocity Hands-on experience with continuous integration and delivery platforms (e.g., Jenkins) Advanced experience with source control (e.g. Git) Experience with branching strategies and best practices Experience building large-scale software and triaging failures Ability to work effectively across different teams Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a fast paced environment Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
5+ years experience in a software build & release related role Experience incorporating AI into automation, such as LLM-powered tooling, agents or Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations Experience working with Xcode Experience with Kubernetes and Docker Strong experience with Jenkins Experience with Bitbucket
